Trusting...

My journey to trusting men has been an interesting one. The first relationship any young girl has with a man, is with her father. When that relationship is broken, it’s hard to trust any man that comes into your life after that... family or not. There’s always that little voice in the back of your mind saying “Is he going to leave too?”, “Is he just using you to get what he wants?”, “Does he actually care about your feelings?”. At least this is true for me. 🤷🏾♀️

I’ve met some amazing men over the years...& some not so amazing men. The “bonus” brothers that I’ve gained over the last 3-4 years have truly shown me that it’s okay to trust. Yes, there’s times when I’m skeptical and think “Here we go again... another hurt dog/playa” 🥴 <— no offense guys. Then I have conversations with my bonus brothers and it gives me hope again. They remind me that there are good men out here and there are real men who don’t have a problem showing their emotions, voicing how they feel, and truly care about you as a person, as a sister, and as a daughter. They don’t just see you as a “piece of meat”. It can honestly be overwhelming sometimes. Especially when you’re used to second guessing every guy and questioning their motives.

It’s refreshing to be surrounded by such awesome men. Especially ones that are truly on fire for God and want to better themselves. I have truly been blessed by each of them and have grown in so many ways throughout our friendships.

If you’re struggling in this area, I encourage you to read these scriptures:
1 Corinthians 13:4-5
Romans 13:8
Ephesians 4:2
1 Peter 4:8
John 15:12
If you desire to have great PLATONIC relationships with men, pray about it. God definitely answered my prayer. Im so blessed.
