Minus the fact that I look rough in all these pics...if you're considering therapy or working towards building a relationship with your dad as an adult, here's some encouragement for you.

Since I finished up therapy in August 2019, my dad and I have been talking every day. We text every morning and talk on the phone at least once on the weekends. He has been to NC to see me about 5 or 6 times and I have been to Asheville twice (halfway point from WS and TN) to see him. I even got a chance to hang out with some of my cousins that I haven’t seen in over 10 years, and meet their kids (pic below).

I am beyond grateful for my therapy experience and the journey to truly forgiving my dad was not an easy one. However, since I have fully forgiven him, I have seen God show up in so many ways in my life and it has made trusting God so much easier. My relationship with God as my Abba Father has been amazing, and continues to grow each day, while my relationship with my earthly father is getting better each day as well.

My dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer last year, and seeing him a month before surgery made him so happy. Especially since I couldn’t be there with him during the procedure. Since then, he has been recovering well and has been back to work. His faith in God is so grand and so beautiful. I am so blessed to have this relationship with him. And I have my therapist to thank for it! If it wasn’t for her pushing me to reach out and at least try, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to see God move in his life, or in mine the way that He has.

I am so grateful for my therapist and that she allows God to use her. If you are searching for an awesome therapist, check out Tonya Moore at Trinity Christian Counseling. Tell her Ebony P. sent you ;)

Here's your song of the day!
